So I didn't understand the menu and ended up over-ordering sushi at dinner tonight. There was a 'set meal' type thing which was a 12-piece combo, but by the way it was worded I couldn't tell it was a set meal, so I started ordering the types of sushi I would get in it. The waitress thought I wanted the 12-combo and the extra sushi I was rattling off, and in the end I got one buttload full of sushi that ended up costing like sixty bucks.<-- pwned

Other than Genki, what other textbooks are good for learning Japanese?
I use Japanese for Busy people with a teacher over Skype, I like it.
JFBP is okay for getting around, but if you want a proper understanding of the language, stick with Genki. Personally, I used Adventures In Japanese when I learned the language.
