He may have meant them for use against humans tho, or just to use their concusive force against zombies to delay them a bit. I can think of a few scenarions w/o trying were they would be of use. IE: In a building trying to escape to a higher floor or out a back door, need to buy any time possible, duck around a corner, toss a grenade, run, the narrow hall would confine the blast a little, may knock lead zombies down, slow up those behind them as they trip over eachother, would proably kill a couple (assuming theyre packed).
Claymores..... yeah useful as fuck. That said, the noise it makes outweighs the use, execpt when used to guard your back of course. Useful, but dont expect to wipe out an entire hoarde. And mind the backblast. If you were to set them up in sequence on tripwires you could make a few blocks reletivley safe, as youd at least know if your peremiter is breached. They would be very useful in SOME indoor applacations (or outdoor, depending) if you rigged them to a ceilding and detonate, as then the balls inside would be a LOT more likley to get headshots. When beseiged you could find some long pole (expendable) to hold one out on over a hoarde beseiging you, and do the same basic thing (that said if you need to do that youre not goin anywere for a while even if you got enough ammo). Also this is a stupid method unless the building is solidly built, as fragments could get you.
Best method would proably be to just use to guard behind you on a confined route (IE: alleyway), mostly as a 'hear claymore, shits coming from that way' type thing. And to have multiple ones rigged every 30 feet or so. That said odds of having a claymore during an outbreak are low, and I can thing of better things to use for the same weight.
